As children of Almighty God, we are called to recognize the battle in our midst - the battle for the salvation of souls which calls us to love as God loves: in truth and charity. This isn't meant to make us perceive the world in which we live as one full of "doom and gloom." Rather, it calls us to be attentive to the reason of our existence. Therefore, whether we choose to accept it or not, we are in constant battle. Whether we are in church, having lunch with a friend, giving our all in our chosen profession, attending to the needs of our family, driving on the road, exercising, or even at rest and on vacation, we represent the Church Militant on earth. When we cease to rely on God and His heavenly aide through the saints and angels, an implicit (and even unintentional) expression is made that we can live this life on our own, slowly sowing the sin of pride in our hearts. We cannot afford to neglect the call to daily prayer.
